How to choose the right toy for your cat

Every cat has its preferences: some love to hunt, others prefer to catch, nibble or hug a toy between their paws. Watching your cat is the best place to start.

Watch how your cat plays

  • The hunter chases anything that moves: wand toys and toys you move yourself suit it well.
  • The wrestler grabs, hugs and kicks with its back legs: a small plush toy to hold between the paws is often a favourite.
  • The curious cat loves new things: rotating several toys keeps its interest.

Choose the right size

A toy should be easy to catch without being small enough to swallow. Check the dimensions before buying: our catnip toy, for example, measures 11 × 5 cm.

Catnip: yes, but not for every cat

Many cats react to catnip, but not all. If your cat seems indifferent to it, that is perfectly normal.

Keep an eye on the toy’s condition

Check toys regularly and remove any that are damaged or have parts coming loose. Put away toys with strings or feathers after playtime.

If you are unsure what suits your cat, your vet is the best person to ask for advice.
